MCA




The MCA is a rigorous three-year program designed with the primary goal of imparting a uniquely broad, yet intensive IT education of the highest academic quality. This is achieved through an integrated curriculum that consists of a highly diverse set of IT courses, interdisciplinary IT research projects, continuous interaction with industry, and personality development courses. The aim of the MCA program is to produce leaders for the IT industry and profession. MCA at St Aloysius College has been started in the year 1999. Continuous advances in technology have resulted in an explosion in the range and nature of computer applications, which today includes societal, scientific, industrial and financial applications. Naturally this explosion has led to a phenomenal growth in the demand for software professionals. From 2007 onwards the MCA programme has become Autonomous. The syllabus has been revisited periodically in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014 and in 2017. In the newly proposed scheme the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced to give better choices to the students in technology domains.


Objectives

  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving techniques using the computer
  • To gain a substantial knowledge of Advanced Topics in Information Technology
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis of complex problems and the synthesis of solutions to those problems
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize, design and implement efficient software solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of modern software engineering principles
  • Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge in the discipline of computer science
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of professional ethics and responsible behavior.

  • Students will become successful professionals able to gain Employment and/or to Continue his Higher studies in India or abroad.

Eligibility

Candidates shall have passed the Bachelor Degree examinations with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of all the years of the Degree examination. (45% for SC/ST and category I candidates) provided that the candidate shall have passed Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% marks with mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Computer Programming/Business Mathematics/Business Statistics as one of the optional/elective subject or PU level. (45% for SC/ST and category I candidates) Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) - is a framework where the student can select the Courses / Technologies as per his choice based on Interest / Level of Competency / Background knowledge / to achieve unique goal. This is First time in India, for the MCA course, where student is getting the freedom to select the subjects of his choice. Eligibility for Lateral Entry to 2nd year MCA A candidate who has passed recognised Bachelor's Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination in BCA, B.Sc (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) (Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates) Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) - is a framework where the student can select the Courses / Technologies as per his choice based on Interest / Level of Competency / Background knowledge / to achieve unique goal.
